Remembering Rome and the Arch of Constantine

Almost two years had passed now since we visited Rome, Italy. I had a visitor, a friend who came from the United States to see Europe. One of the cities we visited was the capital city of Italy. We had a lot of happy memories here especially that my friend is also a cool one. She cracked jokes and I also did the same. We kept on laughing during our  trips to different countries in Europe. It was truly a fantastic and memorable one.

One of the sights we visited in Rome was the Arch of Constantine. This resembles like the Arch of Triumph  in Paris or the Siegestor in Munich. This triumphal arch in Rome is situated between the Colosseum  and the Palatine Hill. It was erected by the Roman Senate to commemorate Constantine I's victory over Maxentius at the Battle of Milvian Bridge on October 28, 312.

It always fascinates me seeing historical architecture like this.

The arch is 21 m high, 25.9 m wide and 7.4 m deep. It has three archways, the central one being 11.5 m high and 6.5 m wide, the lateral archways 7.4 m by 3.4 m each. The top (called attic) is brickwork reveted with marble. A staircase formed in the thickness of the arch is entered from a door at some height from the ground, in the end towards the Palatine Hill.

I am so thankful to visit Rome once in my life. Our trip last August 2010 was truly a worth one. I wish to visit Rome again in the future.

This Nice Beach in Menton, France

Different places, different travel experiences!  This is always the same wherever I go. each place has its own beauty whether it is just a small village or a metropolitan city.

Our visit to Menton  last year was a good one. It is located on the French Riviera. This city of  France is  nicknamed "The Pearl of France". It  is probably because of its beautiful location  along the beach. We only had around three hours sightseeing this place. It was quite short but we  experienced a lot. We actually visited two cities in one day. One was San Remo, a city in Italy.

What I love most is the location of Menton,  a seaside city. Here is one of the snapshots I took during our visit last April 2011.

Visit to the Cadbury World in Birmingham, England

If you love chocolates, this is a perfect place for you to go. The Cadbury World in Birmingham, England  is  one of the world's largest confectionery manufacturers.  I am thankful to my friend from Birmingham who brought me to this place.  We did not really had a tour inside it but we instead  we just went to  its shop to buy some souvenirs and chocolates. There is someone in the house that I need to bring some Cadbury chocolates, the reason why I brought  home some choco bars.

For your information, Cadbury World is a one-way self-guided tour. It is now considered to be  one of Birmingham's largest leisure attractions.

You can find a lot  souvenir items, chocolates, kids stuffs, etcetera at Cadbury's shop.

The Building in Paris, France

There are a lot of historic and interesting buildings in France. Everytime I visit a certain city or country, I always love to take photographs of anything from buildings to monuments, gardens, street signs, etcetera.

This building is just located near the hotel where we stayed during my second visit in Paris, France last August 2010. I love Paris!

Looking at The Sky in Amsterdam, Netherlands

How are you doing folks? It's been awhile since I did not update this blog. If you don't see me here, you can try to visit my other blogs. I am slowly back to the blogosphere now. I still don't feel like updating my blogs all the time. I am still having a little jet lag from our Europe trip last month. At least, I am slowly coming back. I can't find a better image from my files to share here. I still need to organize the images I took during our tour last month.

Below is an image I took at the port of Amsterdam, the capital city of Netherlands. We had a cruise there during our trip. Amsterdam is like Venice, a city on water. More travel images in my travel sites. Have a wonderful weekend ahead. Thanks to all friends and visitors who keep on viewing and visiting my blogs.
